Up to date

What could save a weekend that started out with a garage sale that could only be described as a complete failure? Disappointing, frustrating and depressing are the only words that could describe it. What could save such a weekend? I’ll tell you what. An invitation to go boating, with April and family.

Undertaking such an adventure, you never know how it will turn out. With six kids, anything can happen. But this Sunday? This Sunday was just about as perfect as it could be. We headed over to April’s at about 8 am, and hit the road at about 8:30 for the two hour drive. We were on the water by 11 am. We did some skiing, some swimming, and had some lunch. Then some tubing, some more skiing, a little wake boarding, then some more swimming.

The first time someone checked the time it was 3:30 pm. The next time it was 6 pm. And finally, we were taking the boat out of the water at 7:30 pm.

The day was perfect. Relaxing. Stress free. Not a care about the time. Didn’t care what time we got home. The kids all got along. We just went with the flow.

Everyone should have days like this one every once in awhile. Thank you April and Greg for rescuing the weekend. It couldn’t have turned out better.

Always a week behind

Seems to sum up how I feel about life right now! The summer feels like it is flying by, and I feel like we are trying to cram just as much fun as we can into every week and every weekend. And because of that, I feel like I am constantly playing “catch up” around the house. Cleaning, laundry, work, you know, day to day stuff. It piles up quick. But, all the fun, makes it worthwhile. And my loving hubby is great about helping me catch up around the house.

So, to bring you almost up to date, I’ll fill you in on what we did the weekend before last. We took the kids downtown to Lincoln Park Zoo. Kelsey took a ride with us, and they all had a great time.

But the highlight of the day? At least I think it was, was the impromptu walk across the street to the beach. The kids had a great time getting all wet and sandy in their clothes. We packed it up about 5pm to head home, but I think they would have liked to stay for another couple of hours. Never enough time in the day.
